Trio is a web app. You open it in your phone's browser, and you can add it to your home screen so that it opens like an app. This article covers installing Trio and turning on push for one device. To choose your channels and topics, see Notification Settings.
On an iPhone, Trio shows the banner "Add Trio to your home screen for the best experience" after you sign in. It stays until you close it. Most iPads do not show the banner. Use the same steps.
Open Trio in Chrome. Open the browser menu and tap Install app or Add to Home screen. The words depend on your browser.
If your browser needs the app for push, Notification Settings shows Install Trio. Tap it to install Trio from there.
You turn push on for each device. Turn it on separately on each phone, tablet or computer, and every device you turn on gets your push notifications.
On an iPhone or iPad, push works only in the home-screen app. In Safari, Trio shows "Add Trio to your home screen to enable notifications". Add Trio to your home screen, open it from the icon, and turn push on there.
When push is on, Subscribed devices lists each of your devices that gets push. Each device has Send test, which sends a test notification to that device, and Remove, which stops push to it.
If you see Notifications are blocked, you said no to notifications before. Allow notifications for Trio in your browser or phone settings, then reload the page.
In the home-screen app, Trio can show Turn on push notifications. Tap Enable to turn push on. Tap Not now to hide the prompt on this device. You can still turn push on in Notification Settings later.
When a new version of Trio is ready, Trio shows New version available. Click Refresh to load it. The page reloads only when you click Refresh, so you do not lose your work.
In the home-screen app, Trio emails you a 6-digit code instead of a link. Type the code in the app. See Signing In and Passkeys.
