Getting Around Trio

By Trio Team · Updated

Screenshot of Getting Around Trio

Trio has the same layout on every page: the sidebar on the left, and the top bar with the notification bell and your user menu. This article shows where each one is. For what the home page shows, see Your Dashboard.

The sidebar

The sidebar lists the parts of Trio. You see only the items for your role:

  • Dashboard, Calendar, Students, Families, Events, Group Lessons, Composition Library, Lending Library, Reports and Messages: every team role
  • Applications: owners, admins and staff
  • Billing, Expenses and Settings: owners and admins
  • Lesson Notes: owners, admins and teachers
  • Owner Settings: the owner only

Under these items, the Help & Support group holds Tools, Support (owners and admins), Send feedback and Help.

To make the sidebar narrow, click Collapse sidebar (the double arrow at the top). The sidebar then shows icons only. Click Expand sidebar to open it again.

On a phone, tap Open menu at the top left to open the sidebar.

Click Search... at the top of the sidebar, or press ⌘K on a Mac (Ctrl+K on Windows). Type a name to find students, families and invoices. Click a result to open it.

With an empty search box, Quick Actions offers Add Student, Schedule Lesson, Send Message and Take Attendance. Staff do not see Add Student.

The user menu

Click your picture or initials at the top right. The menu has:

  • My Profile
  • Notification Settings
  • Calendar Integration
  • Manage Availability, for people who teach
  • Switch Studio, when you belong to more than one studio (see Working in More Than One Studio)
  • Log out

Dark mode

On a computer, click the sun or moon button in the top bar and choose Light, Dark or System. System follows your device setting.

On a phone, open the user menu and tap Dark mode or Light mode.

The notification bell

The bell in the top bar shows your notifications, with a count of the unread ones. See Notification Settings.

Help and Ask Trio

  • Help in the Help & Support group opens this help center. Send feedback sends a note to the Trio team. To open a support ticket, see Getting Help and Sending Feedback.
  • Ask Trio answers questions about Trio and about running your studio. On a computer, click the sparkle button at the bottom right. On a phone, open the menu and tap Ask Trio. The button does not show on the Messages page. See Ask Trio Assistant.
